The kicker is that I'm fairly confident James Cameron al' do a great job on the 3D.
But what will it mean when the second go around STILL dominates at the box office?

It's not all just dark stuff, so check back for a laugh, some motivation or for pure randomness.
In case you didn't know, Titanic is actually being re-released, but this time even spiffier in 3d! see for yourself. I'm certain that the mere sound of the bell at the trailer opening will send waves of nostalgia washing over many.

'Take Shelter', a new movie by director Jeff Nichols, might be another in a long line of 'Look out, the end of the world is coming!' tales, but it might also be something else...it might be good! This film premiered in January 2011 at the Sundance Film Festival, and Sony Pictures Classics snapped up the rights to distribute the film. It also got rave reviews when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year, and it received the Fipresci award from the International Federation of Film Critics. In September 2011, Take Shelter was shown at the 37th Deauville American Film Festival, where it beat 13 other contenders to win the festival's grand prize. So what makes this 'the apocalypse is coming' film different from others along the same line? Some would say that having Michael Shannon in the lead role makes all the difference. The actor is getting rave reviews for his portrayal of Curtis LaForche, a man who starts having dark apocalyptic dreams, and the movie centers on the dark road these dreams take him down. He keeps the dreams from his wife (don't they always?), and starts to build a storm shelter in his back yard. As usual with these types of scenarios, his behaviour starts to put a strain on his relationships. Michael Shannon has been a critics favorite in other roles as well, appearing in 'Bug' with Ashley Judd, and earning an Academy Award nomination for his supporting role in 'Revolutionary Road', which also starred Kate Winslet and Leonardo DeCaprio. He will also be playing General Zod in the Superman film series reboot, 'Man of Steel'. 'Take Shelter' also stars Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life, Jolene) as Samantha LaForche, Curtis' wife, and Kathy Baker (Edward Scissorhands, Cold Mountain). We don't know what is happening to Curtis. Is he really getting visions of things to come? Is it all in his head? I certainly hope that this film does not take the easy way out and make this all the product of an over-active imagination. We'll have to wait and see... Kevin B. iTunes released the Trailer for "The Raven". While it doesn't boast anything special or fresh, I am still hoping that it turns out to be good. Here, you'll find a Poe inspired murderer who seems to be playing games with the authorities, leaving clues behind at the murder scene (including an intriguing shot of a pocket watch being removed from someone's mouth). Poe (Cusack) himself becomes involved. There's a love story element. Also it has that good old "find the person before they become my next victim" thing going on. Anyways, take a look and see what you think I like its feel though. Almost has a sleepy hollowness too it?
Here, in case you missed it, we have Spielberg’s “War Horse”. Let me tell you, the camera work looks beautiful. Judging by the music, the teary eyed person and the overall feel, it looks like this one’s aiming to be a tear-jerking inspirational type. Take a look That three part “be brave” at the end was a nice touch
Here, we have the new international trailer for “Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn” Just to remind us that its release on December 21rst is something to get excited about. It’s a family show. It’s got Daniel Craig and Simon Pegg attached to it, not to mention it’s a Spielberg directed flick. It doesn’t look too bad. Though there is some hint of Spielbergesque adventure, I can’t help but find that there’s some pure “I’ll take you on a CG 3D ride” a la Robert Zemeckis (The polar Express and A Christmas Carol)... Not that it’s a bad thing. It’s not like this movie won’t make enough to bring some of Tin Tin’s other adventures to the big screen in this format. Take a look for yourself Weirdest thing... For some reason I can’t think about Tin Tin without also thinking about Marsupalami. Anyone else remember them? And what did you guys think of the Tin Tin trailer?
- Josh Mark Wahlberg turns legit, starts a family and gets outta "the life"... then gets dragged back into "the life" to try and "fix things" for his wife's brother. Things go bad and Wahlberg goes to war. So there's Wahlberg doing the usual which isn't really a bad thing. It looks pretty solid and is fairly sure to have a good "kill the crime lord" type plot to it.
For those who didn't know, David Fincher (The Social Network, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club, Se7en) has taken to remaking the "Girl with the Dragon tattoo" for our viewing pleasure. While I haven't seen the other movies based on the books, I did hear that they were good. That being said, given David Fincher's track record, I think we are in store for something great. Also, Daniel Craig is in it. Take a look at the trailer below. Wasn't that a little long? I thought it was moody and really, kind of exhausting. That aside, the scenes looked great, like the snow frosted trees in the yard. Not too shabby at all.
I want to see it, but it hasn't got me wanting to rush out to the theatre there yet. At this stage, I may just be waiting for the DVD/blu ray release. For those who are interested, I added a link to amazon for the oginal movie triology below. Just click on the picture. -Josh On September 19th, ol' IGN picked themselves up the exclusive redband Trailer for the remake of "The Thing". I've included it below. Let me tell you, I am getting excited. Loving the mutations (you get to see some crazy stuff in this trailer). It is definitly a step up from the stuff they used last time(in 1982). But will it be too CG ee? take a look Doesn't that look like it has promise? It's coming out October 14th at the theatres. Let's hope that they keep to the panaranoia and give us another cliff hanger type ending!
After watching 'Thor', I have only one word to describe it...Awesome!! The movie adaptation of the Marvel comic book hero of Nordic descent who symbolizes thunder, lightning, and the protection of mankind, is, without a doubt, the best adaptation of a comic book hero that I've seen. Lots of action, cool CG effects, and great casting make this a movie to see. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets). The plot is as follows: Thor, about to inherit the throne of Asgard, goes against his father Odin and confronts their ancient enemy, the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, and in doing so reignites an ancient war. Odin banishes Thor to Earth for his actions. The rest, as you can probably guess, is about Thor trying to get back to Asgard. Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth, and in my opinion, they could not have found a better person to play the part. He looks the part of a Nordic God, all blue eyed and blond haired, and steals every scene he is in; his on-screen charm makes him completely likeable. Also in the film are Natalie Portman (Star Wars Ep. 1,2,3, Black Swan) as a scientist studying the strange phenomenon that occurs when Thor and his kind travel through the universe, and Anthony Hopkins (Silence of The Lambs, The Wolfman) as Thor's father, Odin. I would give this movie an 8/10. The fight scene in Asgard near the end was a bit too CG, and that took away from the movie, otherwise I would probably have given it a 9/10. Kevin B. If you missed out on “The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon” by Richard Gale, it’s time to take a look. It opens with “Some murders may take seconds, other’s take minutes...some murders take hours. Now, THIS murder takes years.” We come upon Jack trying to escape his pursuer from the halls of a Parking garage. After him, slinks the Ginosagi in an awesome Trailer about what it would be like to be beaten to death with a spoon. Sure the Trailer’s long, but I think that that’s just a clever take on how long the actual murder would take. Also, if you want to be friends with the Ginosaji, he has a facebook page that you can look up! It's a concept that'l play over and over in your mind. again, and again. again and again. again and again and again and again. again and again. and again and again and again..... |
